Going multiplatform "didn't compromise anything" in Final Fantasy XIII's development

E-mail Print PDF

Final Fantasy XIII's producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed in an interview with Vidergamer.com today that "Going to multiple platforms didn't necessarily affect...[or] compromise anything....There's nothing we had to particularly give up or change because of going multiplatform."

Though I can't imagine a universe where SquareEnix would actually admit to gimping the PS3 version of the game even if they had, Kitase's explanation does seem like it makes sense.

The interview has some other interesting bits in it as well. Like how Kitase explains that since the game has "just a little bit more action and speed" it might attract more people.

Now action and speed are all well and good, but something tells me that if there is any combination of 'life forces,' 'ancient evils,' or over-large swords, they may not be attracting quite as many non RPG fans as they're hoping.

Anyway, at least now that we know that the game's content wasn't compromised, it's nice to know that we no longer have to suffer the cries of millions of disgruntled Sony fanboys.

Oh who am I kidding.
